Texas Tint Laws

In Texas Tint laws and State inspections laws differ from one state to another state.
In the state of Texas Tint limit is 25% or above. This means the darkest tint to have safely would be 25% light emission. The 20% is  the legal limit but from time to time it is argued that 30% is the legal limit. This limit is for each vehicle on the road.

Texas Laws

Section 547.613 of Texas transportation the Texas Transportation Code makes it a misdemeanor to operate a vehicle with an object or material attached to the windshield, rear, or side windows that obstructs or reduces the driver’s visibility.

1. Sun-screening devices must be applied above the AS-1 line.

2. Sun-screening devices may NOT be red, amber, or blue in color.

3. Sun-screening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.

4. Sun-screening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less.

5. A clear (un-tinted) UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption being required.

Paint Protection Film Application Instructions

Paint Protection Film Application Instructions for Hood Kit

Tools Needed:
·         Black Rubber Squeege (smooth edges is preferred)
·         2 spray bottles
·         Dishwashing Liquid
·         Isopropyl Alcohol (70% recommended)
·         Lint free towels
·         Nylon Scrub Pad
·         Bug Remover
·         Tar Remover
·         Wax Remover
·         Steamer
Preparation:
Installation should always take place in a warm and dry environment. Temperature should be between 60-90 degrees F. Also area should be enclosed as sunlight and wind will cause difficulties doing installation. The vehicle’s exterior should be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed with running water. All bugs, dirt, and other contaminants must be removed before the vehicle can be dried and ready for installation. A nylon scrub pad may be used to help get rid of contaminants but care must be taken not to damage the vehicle finish. Cleaning should also include around the lip of the hood edge. Kit pieces may require wrapping of the edge and will not adhere to a dirty surface.
Examine the kit to be applied on a clean, flat surface. Decide which pieces will be installed first and where they should be installed on the vehicle. The “Face Sheet” printout supplied with each kit should help in determining proper placement.
Application Solutions:
1 Spray Bottle –
fill with water and add 2-4 drops of dishwashing liquid.
1 Spray Bottle –
fill with 8 oz. of 70% Isopropyl alcohol and 24 oz. water.
Hood Installation:
Wet your hands with the slip solution and keep them wet whenever you are handling the film. As you gradually remove the film from the liner, spray the sticky side with the slip application solution, this will stop the film from folding and sticking to itself before you put it on the vehicle. Be very cautious not to drop the pattern, or let it come into contact with any contaminated surfaces. Once the adhesive is contaminated with dirt it cannot be cleaned.
Spray a section of the vehicle surface liberally with the gliding application solution before you apply each pattern piece. Re-spray the sticky side of the film and lay the piece onto the vehicle, getting as close to the final position as possible. If you have used adequate solution, large pieces will be able to be repositioned by placing hands on the film and gliding it into the correct position. If you need to lift the film off of the surface to remove air bubbles, just re-spray the film before laying it back down.
Once the piece is on the vehicle, gently lift the piece at the middle and flush the slip solution away with the alcohol solution. Tack the piece vertically in the middle with your squeegee. You are now finished with the slip solution.
With the middle tacked down, lift up a section of the film 180 degrees from the vehicle and spray it liberally (from the top down) with the alcohol solution. This will take away the soap from underneath the film. Place the pattern back down on the vehicle and stretch until the pattern end lines up with the hood edge. While holding in place, use the squeegee to remove the alcohol solution from underneath the film.
Squeegee from the middle of the piece outward, using firm, overlapping strokes. Do not push too hard. You do not want to stretch or scratch the film’s surface.
If you see an air bubble, simply lift the film up, continuing to keep it wet on both sides (keep your hands wet with solution also), spray affected area with alcohol solution and lay back down. Use the squeegee to push out the bubble as you re-squeegee the film.
Make sure to squeegee out all of the moisture and soap! If you do not, a haze will slowly appear under the film, making the car look foggy. Do not panic, this moisture will dry out over a 12-24 hour period; just be sure to make the customer aware of this before viewing the vehicle. Variables such as outside air temperature and degree of sunlight will impact the speed that this moisture evaporates. Do not try to remove the film after it has set for a period greater than 10 minutes, you may leave fingerprints on the film.
Mirror Installation:
Due to the extreme curvature of some mirrors, significant stretching may be necessary to allow the film to lie down without fingers. Mirrors and other smaller pieces may only require using the alcohol solution. Peel the mirror from the liner and wet liberally with alcohol solution. Place the mirror piece in the proper position on the vehicle. If re-positioning is necessary, the piece must be lifted off the surface and re-positioned. Position the edge nearest to the vehicle and squeegee the solution along this edge only to tack the piece. Lifts the areas not already stuck and flush with alcohol solution. Now stretches the piece as illustrated to eliminate fingers aligns the top and bottom edges of the mirror. Hold in place and squeegee excess solution to complete installation.
